Zero Cheating
A three-application exam-proctoring ecosystem combining institution-controlled access, cross-device verification, a restricted desktop environment, and evidence-backed violation reporting.
Built around the product, users, and outcome.
Zero Cheating helped colleges and universities conduct controlled online examinations through three connected applications. Teachers registered students, scheduled institution-hosted papers, and reviewed audit reports through a secure web panel. Students authenticated on desktop and mobile, paired both sessions by scanning a generated QR code, and took exams inside a restricted Electron environment. During an exam, the desktop client required a working camera and streamed captured frames to the Django backend over WebSockets. Backend image processing identified potential violations and assembled student-level records with photographic evidence for teachers to review.
Built the Django web panel UI from Figma designs and integrated its required APIs, developed and integrated the Electron desktop exam application from scratch, and implemented Redux Toolkit state management in the React Native verification app.
The capabilities and outcomes I delivered.
- 01Teacher-managed student accounts and scheduled papers
- 02QR-based desktop and mobile session verification
- 03Restricted Electron exam environment
- 04Mandatory camera readiness before exam entry
- 05Real-time camera-frame streaming over WebSockets
- 06Student-level violation reports with photographic evidence
Technical decisions shaped by real constraints.
Coordinating verification across desktop and mobile
A student's desktop exam session had to be linked to an authenticated mobile account before protected paper access could be granted.
I integrated a QR-based handoff in which Electron generated a session code for the logged-in student to scan from the React Native app, completing the second verification step before eligible papers were shown.
Enforcing a controlled exam environment
Students needed to access an institution-hosted paper without opening extra browser tabs or using unrelated desktop applications during the exam.
I built the Electron client around a restricted paper-taking flow that launched the teacher-assigned URL at the scheduled time and controlled access to the surrounding desktop environment.
Supporting continuous, evidence-backed proctoring
The platform had to confirm camera availability, continuously deliver visual data for analysis, and associate detected violations with evidence teachers could review later.
I integrated camera-readiness checks and high-frequency frame capture with the WebSocket session established during exam setup, enabling the backend pipeline to process frames and produce student-level audit evidence.
